The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in four divisions, including Dhaka, due to an active southwest monsoon, cautioning of landslides in the Chattogram region.
On Thursday morning, meteorologist Khondaker Hafizur Rahman said that heavy (44-88 millimeters/24 hours) to very heavy (up to 188 millimeters/24 hours) rainfall is likely in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions until 24 August.
In addition, temporary gusty/stormy winds with a speed of 45-60 kilometres per hour from the south or southeast may blow over Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar regions.
River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist warning signal number one.
Situation in Dhaka
The sky in the capital may remain cloudy to temporarily cloudy throughout Thursday, with a possibility of rain or thundershowers. However, there will be no significant change in the temperature during the day.
The six-hour forecast given from 7:00am said that winds may blow from the south or southeast at a speed of 10-15 kmph.
The temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 26.8 degrees Celsius at 6:00 am today, with 96% humidity.
