A team of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque from his residence in the capital's Dhanmondi area on Thursday morning.
Joint Commissioner (North) of DB Police Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to UNB.
He, however, did not disclose the reason behind the detention or provide any details of the ongoing investigation.
"We will share more information once the details are available," said the DB official.
Justice Khairul Haque, the 19th chief justice of Bangladesh, is known for his controversial verdicts on constitutional matters.
