EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that the Election Commission will conclude all works related to finalising the voter list by the end of August.
He made the statement on Monday afternoon while talking to the reporters at the EC headquarters in the capital.
Akhtar told the reporters that the draft voter list will be published on August 10.
"The EC will actually publish two lists, one is the list of the people who were not included in the voter list. And the second one is of the list of voters who were excluded from the lists. So, anyone who has an objection can apply to the EC," he added.
Earlier on July 21, the senior secretary informed the media that a total of 44,66,000 new voters have been added to the voter list.
According to the sources from the Election Commission, people can submit objections, claims, or correction requests till August 21.
After hearing and decision over the claims, EC will finalise the voter list by August 31, he added.
Regarding the registration of new political parties with the Election Commission (EC), he stated that the EC called for applications under the Political Party Registration Rules, 2008. The EC accepted applications until June 22, receiving a total of 148 submissions.
However, three of these applications were duplicates, so the actual number of unique applications was 145.
After scrutinising the documents submitted by the aspiring political parties, the EC found that some documents contained inaccurate or inconsistent information. As a result, all aspiring parties were asked to complete or correct their documents. Eighty parties submitted the requested documents, and six parties applied for extensions of time. The remaining 59 parties did not respond.
"The time-extension pleas and no-respond information will be forwarded to the EC office, and they will decide what action should be taken," he added.
Regarding the audit reports from political parties, out of 51 active registered political parties in the country, about 30 parties submitted their documents by the deadline of July 31. Fifteen parties applied for time extensions, and one party informed the Election Commission (EC) that they received their registration only a few months ago and are therefore not required to submit the audit report. The remaining five parties did not respond.
Secretary Akhtar stated that the results will be submitted to the commission, and appropriate action will be taken based on their instructions.
The EC also announced that a three-member European committee, along with four local observers, will visit the EC in mid-September this year to assess the pre-election situation. However, he could not provide further details about the visit.
