Different countries, including the UK, Switzerland, and Australia, have paid tribute to the victims of last year's July-August student-led uprising.
In statements issued by their embassies in Dhaka on the first anniversary of the protests, they honoured those who lost their lives and expressed support for Bangladesh's Interim government on its journey towards democratic transition, human rights, and fair elections.
United Kingdom
"We honour the memory of those who lost their lives and remember the many who were injured," the British High Commission in Dhaka said in a statement
The UK also expressed its support for the Interim Government and the people of Bangladesh as they "chart the pathway to a democratic, inclusive and prosperous future."
Switzerland
The Embassy of Switzerland referred to the events as "historic moments" and emphasised the importance of the ongoing democratic transition.
"Switzerland, as a longstanding and committed partner, supports Bangladesh and its people during this journey and in their quest for a just, accountable and tolerant society," the message read.
Australia
The Australian High Commission also released a statement acknowledging the day's importance for the people of Bangladesh.
"We remember those who died or were injured during last year's civil unrest," it said.
Australia also emphasised its support for Bangladesh's move toward "free, fair and participatory elections."
