Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday expressed deep sorrow at the death of eminent folk singer Farida Parveen, who passed away on Saturday night at the age of 71.
In a condolence message, Yunus praised Parveen, who was widely known as the "Queen of Lalon Geeti."
He highlighted her five decades of performing Lalon Shah's songs, which he said carried "our underlying philosophy of our culture and meaning of life to a new height."
"Despite various adversities, Farida Parveen did not stay away from singing. Her passion for music has inspired generations after generations," Yunus said in the message.
He added that the Ekushey Padak-winning singer's contributions to Bangladeshi music will remain memorable and continue to inspire creativity.
Professor Yunus concluded by offering prayers for the eternal peace of her soul and extending profound sympathy to her family. Farida Parveen's passing marks a significant loss to the country's cultural sphere.
