After outsiders swooped on protesting students near the end of a frantic evening at the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), the university has been declared closed indefinitely.
Students were ordered to vacate campus dormitories by 9:00am tomorrow.
To protest the authorities' refusal to fully implement their demand for a combined degree, students had confined over 200 teachers as well as the vice-chancellor earlier on Sunday.
The decision was taken based on the opinions of the members in the syndicate meeting.
Professor GM Mujibur Rahman said that it would not be right to keep the university open under such circumstances.
