The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh and Islamabad observed July Uprising Day today with due dignity, paying tribute to the martyrs and expressing solidarity with their families.
Riyadh
In Riyadh, the programme was held at the embassy auditorium, which included a discussion session and a screening of a documentary highlighting the historic events of the July Uprising.
Messages from the President and the Chief Adviser were read out during the event, which was attended by embassy officials, staff members, dignitaries, Bangladeshi students and members of the expatriate community, according to a press release.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Md Delwar Hossain, presided over the event. In his remarks, he said the spirit of the July Uprising must be upheld to build a just, corruption-free, and discrimination-free society.
He also expressed appreciation for the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates, noting that their remittances play a vital role in sustaining the country's economy.
The ambassador urged the expatriate community to stay united on national issues and send remittances through legal channels.
Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the martyrs of the July Uprising and continued peace, progress and prosperity for Bangladesh, the release added.
Islamabad
The Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad opened the day's programme with High Commissioner Md Iqbal Hossain Khan, hoisting the national flag, said a press release.
The observance featured the recitation from the Holy Quran, a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs and the reading out of messages from the President and the Chief Adviser.

Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner stressed the need for collective efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination from state-run institutions.
A documentary highlighting the events and significance of the July Uprising was screened during the programme.
Officials and employees of the mission, members of the Bangladesh community in Islamabad, and local Pakistanis were present.
Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs and continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation, the release added.
