Nine-year-old Nafi breathed his last in the early hours of Wednesday, less than two days after his elder sister Nazia died from injuries suffered in the BAF fighter jet's crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara on Monday.
Around 12:15am, little Nafi died with burns on 95% of his body. The child had been in the ICU, among 44 others undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
On Monday night, Nafi's elder sister Nazia, a student of class three, died after suffering burns on nearly 90 percent of her body.
Both Nazia and Nafi lived with their parents in the Kamarpara area of Uttara and were students at Milestone School and College.
Shortly after takeoff from the Kurmitola Air Base, an Air Force FT-7 BGI fighter jet crashed into a two-storey school building on the premises of Milestone School and College.
The crash started a fire in the building immediately, leading to more than 150 injuries—most of them children. Many of those still hospitalised have suffered severe burns.
So far, the death toll from the accident has reached 32, the majority of them children.
