Eighteen children died in different hospitals from injuries suffered in Monday's BAF jet crash at Milestone School and College, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus revealed on Wednesday.
A total of 29 people died in five hospitals, suffering mostly from burn injuries after the horrific crash, according to a Facebook post on the chief adviser's verified page.
The list of deceased also included the pilot of Bangladesh Air Force's F-7 BGI jet, Flight Lieutenant Md Towkir Islam, and seven unidentified others.
According to the Facebook post, the identified deceased are: Tanvir, 14; Afnan Faiyaz, 14; Mahrin, 46; Bappy, 9; Masuka, 37; AB samim, 14; Shayan Yousuf, 14; Arikson, 13; Ariyan, 13; Nazia, 13; Nafi, 9; Rojoni Islam, 37; Md Samiul Karim, 9; Fatema Akter, 9; Mehnaz Afarin Humayra, 9; Sariya Akter, 13; Nusrat Jahan Anika, 10; Sad Salauddin, 9; Sayma Akter, 9; Flight Lt Md Towkir Islam; Junayet, 9; and Omayer Nur Ashfiq, 11.
Bodies of all of the identified deceased were handed over to families, while that of pilot Towkir and six other unidentified bodies were kept in mortuaries.
The body of a patient who died at Lubana General Hospital and Cardiac Center was categorised as unknown.
The four other hospitals where the injured died are National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (11 deaths), Combined Military Hospital (15), Dhaka Medical College Hospital (1), and United Hospital Limited (1).
A total of 69 patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals. They include 41 students, 14 army personnel, five teachers, one school staff, one firefighter, one police personnel, one maid, and one electrician.
The total number of deaths, according to media reports, was 32 as of 2:30pm on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, BSS, quoting an ISPR report, said the death toll was 31.
