The health condition of Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur is showing gradual improvement, according to Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, Director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Speaking to reporters at the hospital on Sunday, the director said, ""Nur is currently under close observation. Although his condition is showing signs of improvement, some complications still remain."
Nur sustained four serious injuries, including fractures to his nasal and jaw bones, eye injuries, and haemorrhage. Doctors said the internal bleeding in his brain is decreasing with treatment, and his latest CT scan reports are positive.
Nur is being treated under the supervision of a six-member medical board and the doctors are closely monitoring his overall condition, he added.
The injuries occurred during a clash on Friday night in front of his party office between activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad and Jatiya Party. As the situation escalated, police and army personnel intervened with baton charges, leaving Nur and several others wounded.
